Jonathan Guzman was arrested around 11:50 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 28, after Nassau County Police received notice that a man matching Guzman's description was entering home pretending to need to check gas and electric meters in the Russell Gardens area of Great Neck.
According to detectives, Guzman went to two different homes, one on Tain Drive and the other on Clent Road, pretending to be a sub-contractor for the village and that he needed to check the gas and electric meters.
Guzman, of Queens Village in Queens, who was allowed access by the homeowners, then left the homes without any proceeds, police said. The homeowners became suspicious and called the Russell Gardens Village Hall to make sure he was an employee were informed that he was not, police said.
Village officials then called police with Guzman's description and what type of vehicle he was driving.
Sixth Precinct officers canvassed the area and located Guzman a short time later and pulled him over, police said.
He was charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of criminal impersonation, and criminal possession of stolen property.
Guzman is being held until his arraignment on Thursday, Aug. 29.
